Inside the kestrel box at the Corbusierhaus: the camera sits high in the corner and looks down into the nest scrape itself. There is no artificial light inside.

The floor is a deep litter of pellets, feathers and bone fragments, lit only by daylight coming through the entrance slot at the back. A wooden batten crosses the left of the frame, and the concrete walls carry the marks of every season the box has been used.

What is in shot depends entirely on the calendar: eggs and a sitting female in spring, noisy chicks by June, and from late summer onward an empty box. Outside the breeding season the outdoor camera on the same wall is the more rewarding of the two.
