Plage de Wissant, France Live Cam

At low tide the sand at Wissant runs out for hundreds of metres, leaving shallow channels and pools across the flats. The bay sits on the Dover Strait, between the headlands of Cap Gris-Nez and Cap Blanc-Nez.

Steady onshore wind is the reason the bay is known to kitesurfers, and kites are usually up over the water in the live picture. The stone revetment in the foreground protects the seafront of the village behind the camera.

Wissant is a small commune in the Hauts-de-France region, and on clear days the white cliffs of Kent are visible across the strait. The wide beach empties and refills twice a day, so the shoreline in the frame shifts by a considerable distance.
