Schipgatduinen, Koksijde Live Cam

This view looks across the Schipgatduinen in Koksijde-Bad, a dune area of sandy paths and low scrub that stretches towards the North Sea. A bare, pale dune crest rises above the vegetation near the horizon, with open water beyond it.

Koksijde lies at the western end of the Belgian coast in West Flanders, close to the French border. The Schipgatduinen sit inland from the seafront, beside the Duinenhuis nature education centre. They are one of the younger dune landscapes of this coast, and a deep hollow inside them is the remnant of an old creek.

The camera turns between several directions. Facing the sea, it shows the North Sea behind the dune ridge and the sand-coloured crest. Other views frame red-roofed houses of Koksijde-Bad at the edge of the dunes or follow sand trails winding through shrubs.
