Weather and time
The Orbe river flows through a stone-lined channel in the village of Bois-d'Amont in the Haut-Jura, seen from beside a shingle-clad wall. Opposite, a house with a long wooden gallery rises straight from the water, and a road bridge crosses the channel at the far end.
Bois-d'Amont is a mountain village at about 1,060 metres in the Jura department, close to the Swiss border and the Vallée de Joux. The Orbe rises near Les Rousses and continues into Switzerland. The camera stands at the Musée de la Boissellerie, devoted to the local woodworking tradition.
The view is a close, high-angle look at the river rather than a village panorama. Still water doubles the house fronts and the bridge in reflection, and a wooden walkway edge and old timbers overhang the channel in the foreground.
