Weather and time
This camera looks up a quiet valley at Brunissard, a hamlet of Arvieux in the Queyras, toward a jagged rocky ridge. A paved road and a gravel track run through open meadows and larch trees beside a stream bed.
Brunissard lies at about 1,800 metres at the foot of the Col d'Izoard, in the commune of Arvieux in the Hautes-Alpes. The hamlet is the centre of Arvieux's cross-country skiing, with groomed trails across the surrounding meadows and a route that climbs toward the Izoard. The Col d'Izoard, a well-known Tour de France climb, begins nearby, and in summer the valley is used for hiking.
The camera is set high above the meadow, so the frame takes in the valley floor, the larches along the stream and the ridge above. At sunrise the upper rock glows pink, and in the afternoon the sun comes in from the left of the frame.
