Varet Top Station, Arc 2000 Live Cam

High above Arc 2000, the top station of the Varet gondola looks out over the Tarentaise valley towards the Mont Blanc massif. The camera turns between several views, from the gondola cable to the rocky slopes of the Aiguille Rouge.

Opened in 1999, the Varet gondola climbs from Arc 2000 at 2,120 metres to 2,679 metres on the Crête de l'Homme. Its top station stands a few metres from the Aiguille Rouge cable car, which rises to the 3,226-metre summit, the highest point of the ski area. Arc 2000 lies in the commune of Bourg-Saint-Maurice in Savoie.

In the northern view the cable runs down towards the valley, with the snowy dome of Mont Blanc on the horizon. Other positions show the Aiguille Rouge with its summit station on the skyline, gravel tracks across the scree and a small lake below. At dawn the distant peaks glow orange.
