Maison Soleil, Aosta Live Cam

The bell tower of Sant'Orso rises over the roofs of Aosta in this view, in the Aosta Valley of northern Italy. The Romanesque tower stands on the left with the church beside it, and snow-covered peaks close the head of the valley.

The priory of Sant'Orso keeps a twelfth-century cloister whose carved capitals are the reason the complex is known outside the valley. Aosta itself was founded by the Romans as a garrison town at the junction of the roads to the Great and Little St Bernard passes, and the grid of its streets still follows that plan.

The peaks in the background hold snow for most of the year. A second camera in the town looks along a shopping street in the centre instead.
