Sylt Island Cam Live

A school hostel at Rantum carries this webcam above the dunes of Sylt, the northernmost island of Germany. The long brick building and its car park fill the frame, and the flat water of the Wadden Sea shows behind the roofline.

The camera turns to cover the middle of the island: the villages of Rantum and Tinnum, the dunes of the narrow waist, and the Rantum Basin, a former reservoir now protected as a bird reserve. The open North Sea beach runs down the far side of the island.

The other Sylt camera in the catalogue looks at the beach at Westerland; this one shows the quieter tidal side. At low tide the mudflats behind the building are walked on guided crossings.
