Barra da lagoa, Florianópolis Live Cam

Barra da Lagoa beach lies on the eastern coast of Florianópolis, in Santa Catarina, Brazil, and this webcam covers it. Umbrellas and chairs cover the sand in the foreground, and a rocky point closes the bay on the right.

The beach sits at the mouth of the channel that drains Lagoa da Conceição into the sea, and a footbridge crosses it towards the fishing village and the path to the lighthouse. Natural pools form among the rocks on the far side of the channel, and the surf here is steady enough for the beach to be used by surf schools.

The beach is full from December to February and comparatively empty the rest of the year. The islands on the horizon stay visible in clear weather; in the afternoon the wind usually picks up along the shore.
