Serra do Rio do Rastro, Santa Catarina Live Cam

The switchbacks of the Serra do Rio do Rastro road fall away below this view, in the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil. The highway doubles back on itself down the face of the escarpment, with forested slopes falling away below.

The road climbs about 1,400 metres in a few kilometres of hairpins and is one of the most photographed stretches of asphalt in the country. A viewpoint at the top looks back down the whole descent, which is where this camera stands.

Cloud sits on the escarpment for much of the year and swallows the road entirely. In winter the top can get frost and, very occasionally, snow.
