Short Sands Beach is a beautiful beach protected on both ends by rocky cliffs and lined with a wide promenade with views of the ocean and historic buildings. This beach and Ellis Park are both owned by the Town of York, which is also in charge of park maintenance. The pleasant Ellis Park, which is part of the beach, has a large grassy area, seasonal lifeguards, public restrooms, a gazebo, a playground, basketball courts, and a metered parking lot.Visitors to York can also visit the Nubble Lighthouse on Nubble Island, which lies approximately 100 yards (91 metres) off Cape Neddick Point.
