Weather and time

A camera at the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum in Chattanooga looks over a museum track and platform to a main line on a hillside. Two signal masts and a power transmission tower stand on the far embankment, with a rail bridge running off to the left.

The museum was founded in 1961 and is based at 4119 Cromwell Road, where its Grand Junction depot is the starting point for heritage excursions. Its collection includes steam locomotives and vintage passenger cars. Beyond it, Norfolk Southern's Chattanooga Terminal District carries modern freight.

In the foreground a gravel-ballasted track curves past a platform with a yellow safety stripe and a wooden bench. Museum equipment sometimes stands there, such as maroon and green passenger cars or a red diesel locomotive. Freight trains pass on the main line at the top of the cut.
