Weather and time
From the Sweetwater Depot in Tennessee, the camera looks across a lawn and parking lot to the tracks and brick storefronts of downtown. A silver passenger coach stands on the rails in front of the buildings.
The depot and visitors center is a 2016 replica of the town's original station. The line is Norfolk Southern's West End District, running from Knoxville to Ooltewah toward Chattanooga and Atlanta. Sweetwater grew after the East Tennessee & Georgia Railroad arrived in 1852, and the line passed to the Southern Railway in 1894 and to Norfolk Southern in 1982.
The foreground is a mown lawn and a paved lot, with a striped lamp post at the left edge. Beyond them the track runs along the far side, with storefronts, a flagpole and tree tops above the rooflines. Freight trains pass in front of the buildings, and at dusk the shop fronts light up.
