Dalton Freight Depot, Georgia Live Cam

A camera under the roof of the restored freight depot in Dalton, Georgia, looks north over a wide yard of tracks behind a brick fence. Brick-capped fence posts, a signal mast and an old brick warehouse frame the scene, with an overpass at the far left.

The depot at 305 South Depot Street dates from 1911 and now houses the Dalton Convention and Visitors Bureau. CSX's W&A Subdivision, the former Western & Atlantic route, and Norfolk Southern's Atlanta North District, a Southern Railway line, both link Atlanta and Chattanooga and cross at a diamond in Dalton.

Looking north from the platform side, the camera frames a lawn with a stack of old timbers, then several tracks running toward the signal mast. Behind them stand a long red-brick industrial building and parked box trailers. The depot roof overhang darkens the upper left corner.
