Maine Maritime Academy Pier, Castine Live Cam

This camera looks south from a waterfront rooftop in Castine, Maine, over the Maine Maritime Academy pier and the training ship State of Maine. Crawler cranes, a work barge and contractor trailers fill the foreground while the pier is being rebuilt.

The academy was founded in 1941 and trains future ship officers and engineers on Castine Harbor, near the mouth of the Bagaduce River. Its new training ship first reached this pier on July 12, 2026, replacing an older State of Maine that was retired in 2024. Work on the old pier and the small-boat basin is planned to continue into 2027.

The ship lies broadside to the lens, with its orange lifeboats and deck crane spread across the middle of the frame. A smaller white vessel ties up at the older pier on the left, and the wooded Brooksville shore closes the view across the harbor.
