Big Bear Bald Eagles, Wide View Live Cam

This wide view in Big Bear Valley looks over tall pines toward Big Bear Lake and the forested ridges of the San Bernardino Mountains. Houses line the far shore below wooded slopes crossed by pale cleared strips.

Big Bear Valley lies high in the mountains of Southern California, around a lake ringed by pine forest. The valley became famous for the bald eagle pair Jackie and Shadow, who raised chicks in a nest high in a Jeffrey pine. A separate camera shows that nest at close range.

This camera shows the setting around the nest instead: the treetops, the water and the far ridges. At times the image is zoomed in on a nearby pine, where an adult eagle may sit among the branches. The yellowing broadleaf trees in front and the light on the lake change with the season.
