Weather and time
Slide Peak rises at the upper end of the Snow Valley ski area in the San Bernardino Mountains near Running Springs, California. The camera looks out over pine forest, bare granite ridges and a small pond beside a chairlift tower.
Snow Valley lies inside the San Bernardino National Forest and is described as the longest continually operating ski resort in Southern California. Its top elevation is listed at 7,841 feet (2,390 m), about the height of Slide Peak, and a chairlift climbs this upper part of the mountain.
The camera turns between several views. One settles on the pond and the ridgelines behind it, another looks over pine-covered slopes, and a third shows a flat roof with a ladder and antenna equipment against distant high mountains. Without snow the ground is pale sand and granite with low green scrub.
