The camera sits above the city centre and looks north-east across the low grid of central Dunedin: warehouse roofs, the illuminated signs of the main streets, and then the dark band of the harbour with the settlements of the far shore strung along it.

At night this is chiefly a lights-and-weather frame; by day it shows the whole basin, from the port at Ravensbourne round to the hills behind the university.
