Weather and time

Boulevard de Favauge in Zandvoort runs along the dunes between a landscaped seafront square and the wide sandy beach of the North Sea. This fixed camera looks out to sea over the lawns and curving paths of the square, a low flat-roofed building and the beach.

Zandvoort is a seaside resort about 25 km west of Amsterdam, and the names of its northern boulevards, Boulevard de Favauge among them, date from before 1887. The Palace Hotel on the northern side of the square is a 1960s high-rise by Jan Wils, architect of the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam. The town centre and the railway station lie a short walk inland.

The white tower of the Palace Hotel stands at the right edge of the frame, and large white letters spelling the town's name sit on the dune above the beach. On clear days a row of offshore wind turbines shows on the horizon.
