Weather and time

Red-tiled roofs, church towers and modern apartment blocks of central Zandvoort spread out below this camera, with coastal dunes beyond. The rotating camera turns between the old village centre, the dunes east of the town and a square near the seafront.

Zandvoort was a fishing village before its first bathing house opened in 1828, and the railway from Haarlem arrived in 1881. The old centre keeps narrow streets of low brick houses, while taller hotels and apartment blocks line the seafront. To the east, a broad belt of dunes separates the town from Haarlem.

One view looks down on a paved square with potted palms, a red-roofed brick building and an apartment block with turquoise glass balconies. Others zoom across the rooftops to a slender church spire and a brick church tower, or to the dune ridges on the horizon.
