Weather and time
This river camera watches the Hidaka River beside Kawakami Bridge, a red steel truss bridge in the Miyama part of Hidakagawa, Wakayama. The frame shows the near pier banded in red and white, a gravel bar on the far side and the river running under the span.
The Hidaka River flows about 115 kilometres from the mountains of central Wakayama to the Kii Channel at Gobo. In Miyama, the most upstream of the three municipalities that merged into Hidakagawa in 2005, the river runs through a deep wooded valley. The prefecture's Kawaharago water level station stands on the right bank about 100 metres upstream of the bridge.
What sets this view apart is the red truss overhead and the rocky bank at the lower left, with a leafy branch framing the right side. The water runs from clear turquoise-green to cloudy grey-brown after rain.
