Wilson's Arch is the vaulted hall at the northern end of the Western Wall plaza in the old city of Jerusalem. The camera covers the prayer space under the stone arch.
The arch carried a bridge from the upper city onto the Temple Mount, and is named after Charles Wilson, the British officer who surveyed Jerusalem in the 1860s and identified it. What is visible is the top of it; the ground level in the first century was some fifteen metres lower.
Excavations under the hall have exposed courses of Herodian stonework, a theatre-like structure cut into the rock and a street that ran along the base of the wall. The wall itself is the retaining side of the platform Herod built, not of the temple that stood on it.
