Weather and time
The view looks south from the edge of Winterberg across the finish curve of the bobsleigh track to the forested Kappe hill. A chairlift climbs toward the summit, where the elevated walkway of the Panorama-Erlebnis-Brücke stands against the sky.
Winterberg is a resort town in the Hochsauerland, the upland part of the Sauerland in North Rhine-Westphalia. The Kappe rises to 776 metres south-west of the town centre and carries ski runs and a bike park. The artificial ice track on its north-eastern slope opened in 1977 and has hosted world championships in bobsleigh and luge.
The finish curve runs through the foreground beyond a lawn and a line of trees, and higher bends of the ice channel appear among the trees on the right. On the left, dirt trails of the bike park wind through the forest above a small turquoise pond.
