This webcam looks south from the Tönsberghaus over the rooftops of Oerlinghausen toward the wooded slopes of the Teutoburg Forest. Beside a forested ridge on the right, the land opens into a wide, flat lowland that fades into the haze along the horizon.

Oerlinghausen is a town in the Lippe district of North Rhine-Westphalia, on a pass over the Teutoburg Forest southeast of Bielefeld. Its highest point is the 334-metre Tönsberg, and the southwestern part of the town belongs to the Senne, a sandy lowland at the foot of the hills. It is also home to one of the largest gliding airfields in Europe.

The view comes from the Tönsberghaus, a former youth hostel on the hillside. Gabled houses with grey and red roofs fill the foreground, with a large white building at the right edge. Fog or low cloud can hide the ridge and the lowland entirely.
