Ruhrtaler Freilandschwein Live Cam

Pigs root through deep straw under a curved shelter at the Ruhrtaler Freilandschwein farm, on the southern edge of Essen in Germany. More of them work the open ground beyond the arch.

The herd is kept outdoors the whole year, with tunnel shelters and wooden huts standing directly in the field. Animals move between them as they like, which is what the live view mostly shows.

Essen was a coal and steel city, and the Ruhr valley below it has been given over to farmland and parkland since the pits closed. The farm sells its own meat and takes visitors by arrangement.
