Rhine Promenade and Rees-Kalkar Bridge Live Cam

The Rhine at Rees flows past a red-brick promenade and a cobbled embankment toward the Rees-Kalkar Bridge on the horizon. Cargo barges move along the busy waterway, and a floating landing stage lies just below the walkway.

Rees lies on the right bank of the Lower Rhine in North Rhine-Westphalia. Chartered in 1228, it is regarded as the oldest town on the Lower Rhine. The camera sits in the gauge tower on the Rheinpromenade at river kilometre 837.4, next to the landing stage used by excursion boats.

The view faces downstream toward Emmerich, where the two pylons of the cable-stayed bridge, opened in 1967, rise in the distance. Lanterns, benches and an old brick wall line the right side, with wind turbines beyond the far bank. A second camera in the same tower looks upstream toward Wesel.
