Rheinuferpromenade Düsseldorf Live Cam

The camera stands above the Rheinuferpromenade, the walkway built in the 1990s once the riverside motorway was buried in a tunnel — the change that gave the old town its river back. Below are the young plane trees and benches of the promenade; ahead lies the open water, with loaded barges working the channel and, in the late afternoon, the sun dropping straight down the river.

The low green bank opposite is the Oberkasseler Rheinwiesen, flood meadow that stays empty most of the year and fills with fairground rides for the Größte Kirmes am Rhein each July.
