Châtel Plaine-Dranse, France Live Cam

The piste at Plaine Dranse climbs away from this webcam, in the Châtel ski area of the Portes du Soleil, Haute-Savoie. Skiers cross the slope in front of the lens, and a chairlift and a mountain restaurant stand at the top of the frame.

Plaine Dranse is a junction rather than a single run: several lifts meet here, and it is the point where the Châtel sector links across the ridge towards Avoriaz and the Swiss side of the area. The Portes du Soleil covers a dozen resorts on both sides of the border under one pass.

The season runs from December into April, and the slope shows patchy at either end of it. In summer the same terrain is used for mountain biking and walking.
