Swift Nest Box, Brno-Bystrc Live Cam

A fixed camera looks up at a long swift nest box mounted above a window of an apartment house in Brno-Bystrc. A row of small entrance holes runs down its face, and open sky fills most of the frame.

The nest boxes for common swifts were installed here in August 2016, next to the loggia where kestrels breed. Records kept for the house note the swifts returning in late April or early May almost every year since 2015. In 2024 starlings shared the boxes with at least two swift pairs. On 13 May 2026 a swift leaving one of the boxes was caught by the male kestrel from the neighbouring loggia.

Because the lens points upward from below the box, birds are seen as silhouettes against the sky. A July 2025 frame shows two swifts crossing the sky beside the box, and on an October morning the low sun shines straight into the lens.
