Kestrel Nest Basket, Brno-Bystrc Live Cam

A wicker nest basket with a clay bowl and a wooden box filled with wood chips are seen from a low angle on a kestrel loggia in Brno-Bystrc. The wide-angle lens also catches a strip of the glazed loggia and some plants at the back.

The 2026 season here began with seven eggs laid between 5 and 18 April, and the female sat on them from the evening of 15 April. Three chicks hatched on 11 May and three more over the next two days, and all six were ringed on 27 May. Bystrc is a large residential district in the north-west of Brno.

This camera sits closest to the floor and gives the nearest look at the two nesting containers. In an earlier frame one kestrel perched on the wooden block while another stood in the box; in late October both held only wood chips.
