Kestrel Flower Boxes, Brno-Bystrc Live Cam

Two wicker flower boxes on a kitchen windowsill in Brno-Bystrc are filmed from directly above, with wood-chip and pebble bedding inside. Far below, a lawn crossed by footpaths and edged with shrubs fills the top of the frame.

The boxes were put out at the end of winter 2026 on the side of the apartment house facing away from the kestrel loggia. Kestrels had tried to nest on this side since 2009, in a ventilation opening one floor lower, mostly without success, and in 2025 a pair raised at least two chicks there. In 2026 a pair settled in the boxes on 2 May and laid four eggs between 15 and 22 May, but the eggs did not hatch.

The camera is fixed above the boxes and looks down into them. A spring frame shows two adult kestrels perched at the rim of the right-hand box, and an October frame shows the unhatched eggs still lying in its bedding.
