Weather and time
The camera looks across the track yard at the red-roofed stone McAdam Railway Station in McAdam, New Brunswick. To the left of the building lies a stretch of calm water edged by forest, and a flagpole stands at the right.
The station was built around 1900 for the Canadian Pacific Railway on its main line into Atlantic Canada, and it is a National and a Provincial Historic Site. McAdam lies in southwestern New Brunswick, a few kilometres from the Maine border. Today the building houses a railway museum and a visitor information centre.
The view is taken from a raised position opposite the long platform, so the steep roofs and dormers are seen from the front, with the rails running along the building. Gravel roads, grassy islands and utility poles fill the foreground, and freight cars stand on the track at the far right.
