Canto do Forte Beach, Praia Grande Live Cam

Canto do Forte is the northern end of the beach at Praia Grande, on the coast of São Paulo state in Brazil. The camera looks east along the promenade towards the headland.

The fort that gives the corner its name is on that headland: a coastal battery cut into the rock at the start of the twentieth century to cover the approach to Santos, and now a military museum.

The beach runs about twenty-two kilometres from here in an unbroken line of promenade and blocks of flats, most of them empty out of season. The city is an hour from São Paulo down the mountain, and its population multiplies in January.
