Zell am See from Thumersbach Live Cam

This view from Thumersbach looks down a wooded side valley towards Zell am See, with the Schmittenhöhe rising behind the town. A steep forested slope fills the left side of the picture, and tall trees in the foreground frame the rooftops of the town.

Thumersbach is a district of Zell am See on the eastern shore of Lake Zell, opposite the old town. Zell am See is the main town of the Pinzgau region in the Austrian state of Salzburg. The 1,965-metre Schmittenhöhe above it has had a cable car to its summit since the late 1920s.

The camera stands on the lower slopes east of the lake, so the water stays hidden behind the trees. Pale ski runs cross the forested face of the Schmittenhöhe, and to its left jagged peaks of the Hohe Tauern line the horizon on clear days.
