Panda, Zoo Atlanta Live Cam

The panda enclosure at Zoo Atlanta is a set of climbing frames and rockwork with bamboo laid across the floor. The camera looks down into it from one corner.

Every giant panda outside China is there on loan, and the animals here were the last of them in the United States: the pair that arrived under the breeding programme went back to Chengdu in 2024, along with the cubs raised in Atlanta.

Pandas descend from carnivores and still have the gut of one, which is why they eat bamboo for most of their waking hours and digest very little of it. The low-energy life that follows is most of what a camera on them records.
