Weather and time
This webcam on the Alabama bank of the Chattahoochee River in Valley looks across a broad, quiet reach of water to a forested Georgia shore. Overhanging branches and a fallen tree frame the right edge of the picture.
Here the Chattahoochee forms the line between Alabama and Georgia, and the boundary follows the western bank. The camera stands at a small riverside campground in Chambers County, upstream of Lake Harding. The wooded shore opposite lies in Harris County, Georgia, where the Blanton Creek Wildlife Management Area stretches along the river. Water levels depend largely on releases from West Point Dam upstream.
The view is fixed, so the scene changes with the water and the light rather than with any movement of the lens. On calm days the surface reflects the far tree line, which turns gold, orange and rust in autumn.
