Waimea Bay, Hawaii Live Cam

Waimea Bay opens between two headlands on the north shore of Oahu, with the mouth of the Waimea River at one end of the sand. The webcam looks along the beach from the slope above and is run by explore.org.

The tower behind the trees was not built as a bell tower. Saints Peter and Paul Mission took over the rock crusher left behind by a quarry that worked the wall of the valley, and put a cross on top of it.

In summer the bay is flat enough to swim across. In winter it takes the open swell and holds some of the biggest surf ridden anywhere, and the invitational named for Eddie Aikau only runs when the waves stay above about six metres, which has happened fewer than a dozen times since 1984.
