Riverview Bank, Vancouver Live Cam

The Columbia River separates Vancouver, Washington, from Portland, and the webcam looks over the waterfront towards the Interstate Bridge. The camera is mounted on a bank building above the redeveloped shore.

The older of the two spans opened in 1917 and the second in 1958. Both still lift for river traffic, and replacing them has been under discussion for most of this century without much to show for it.

The blocks in the foreground stand on the site of a paper mill and were cut off from the river by rail lines and industry until the 2010s. Vancouver is the older of the two cities: the Hudson's Bay Company built its fort here in 1825, seventeen years before Portland was platted.
