Weather and time
This camera looks down into an osprey nest on a tall pole in Broadway Park, in the small coastal town of Seaside, Oregon. Below the bowl of sticks lie a playground with a swing set, a curving paved path and evergreen trees.
Seaside is a beach town on the northern Oregon coast, just south of Astoria and the mouth of the Columbia River. The pole stands by the town's sports complex near the west bank of Neawanna Creek, close to the Necanicum River estuary. The ospreys first nested on a light pole by the ball field before their nest was moved to its own 60-foot pole.
The fixed camera sits just above the rim, so the woven sticks fill much of the frame, with a street of colorful houses in the upper corner. The pair usually returns in early spring and raises chicks through the summer; by September the nest stands empty.
