Riverfront Park, Alton Live Cam

This camera looks over Riverfront Park in Alton, Illinois, toward the Mississippi River and the Clark Bridge. It stands on a downtown rooftop, so the frame also takes in the railroad line and the old brick buildings of the town.

Alton lies on the Illinois bank of the Mississippi, about 18 miles north of St. Louis. Riverfront Park holds the Alton Amphitheater, whose white arched canopy overlooks the river, the bridge and the marina. The Clark Bridge, opened in 1994, is a cable-stayed crossing that carries U.S. Route 67 to West Alton, Missouri, on the far bank.

The view is fixed and always shows the same scene: the green park lawn, the wide parking area by the river and the long bridge across the water. Freight cars sometimes pass along the tracks between the downtown streets and the park.
