Weather and time
This camera in downtown Saint Louis, Missouri, looks west across a wide field of Terminal Railroad tracks toward an elevated roadway. Several tracks fan out in the foreground, with a red-brick building and steel lattice towers behind the overpass.
The Terminal Railroad Association of Saint Louis, founded in 1889, is a switching and terminal railroad owned by major carriers. Here its Merchants Subdivision, used by Terminal Railroad, BNSF and Union Pacific trains, meets the MacArthur Subdivision, which runs from Gratiot Street to the MacArthur Bridge over the Mississippi. The Union Pacific Lesperance Street Lead joins nearby.
Gravel yard tracks cross the frame toward the far left, with signal masts, equipment cabinets and a stack of ties between them. A retaining wall, a parking lot and trees line the left, and Amtrak trains also pass this stretch.
