Peregrine Falcon Nest Box, Kansas City Live Cam

This camera looks into a peregrine falcon nest box on the roof of an office tower near the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City. The gravel-lined tray is split in two by a wooden board, with a roof walkway along a stone parapet to the right.

Peregrine falcons were reintroduced to Kansas City in 1991, first at the Commerce Tower downtown. A pair first tried to nest on this roof around 2010, but the chicks were exposed to the sun and did not survive. A sheltered box was then built, and the falcons have raised young in it since.

The view stays on the nest rather than the skyline: the wooden walls of the box with partner signs on the left, and tree canopy and low buildings far below between the pillars on the right. Outside the nesting season the tray may stand empty, with a few feathers and twigs among the stones.
