Coastal Salt, Ocean City MD Live Cam

Coastal Salt stands on the boardwalk at 16th Street in Ocean City, Maryland, and the camera looks across its outdoor tables. The beach and the Atlantic are behind, at the top of the picture.

The town owes its shape to a storm. A hurricane in August 1933 cut a channel through the barrier island at the southern end, and the inlet it left was made permanent, which gave Ocean City a fishing harbour and cut it off from Assateague.

Assateague, on the far side of that gap, was never built on and carries the herd of feral ponies the island is known for. The boardwalk here runs about five kilometres, and the tables in view are full for roughly three months of the year.
