A coffee shop at Mahatun Plaza on Ploenchit Road fills this view, in the Pathum Wan district of Bangkok. Bar stools face the glass front, and cars and motorbikes pass on the street barely a metre beyond the window.

Ploenchit is part of the business spine that runs from Siam east towards Asok, lined with offices, hotels and shopping centres and served by the elevated railway overhead. A café here works on office hours rather than tourist ones.
