La Plata Amtrak Station East, Missouri Live Cam

The east end of the Amtrak platform at La Plata, Missouri, looks down the BNSF main line as two tracks run straight out of town. The station building and a red vending machine fill the left side of the frame.

The depot was built by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway in 1945 in Art Deco style, replacing an 1888 building, and local preservation groups restored it between 1996 and 2001. A grade crossing lies a short way east of the platform. Passenger service here is the Southwest Chief.

Fixed on the platform, the view takes in the station's canopy and brick base, a yellow edge strip, a signal mast beside the rails and low trees and rooftops of the town on the horizon. Gravel ballast fills the space to the right of the tracks.
