Kismet Marina, Fire Island Live Cam

This camera looks over a small marina basin in Kismet, on Fire Island, and north across the Great South Bay to Long Island. Wooden piers on pilings enclose the slips, and a tall white flag mast rises from the outer pier.

Kismet is the westernmost beach community on Fire Island, a barrier island off the south shore of Long Island. The hamlet lies in the Town of Islip, just west of Saltaire, and ferries reach it from Bay Shore. The shallow lagoon of the Great South Bay separates the island from the mainland.

A flat roof with an exhaust fan and a fenced yard with beach grass fill the foreground. A pier with a lamp post runs out on the left, where boats enter the basin. Some days cabin cruisers and fishing boats fill the slips, while on others the basin is almost empty. After dark the picture turns black and white.
