Hudson River, New York Live Cam

The Hudson runs between Midtown Manhattan and the New Jersey shore, and the webcam looks across it from the New York side. The piers below are the city's cruise terminal.

The grey ship at the end of one of them is the Intrepid, an aircraft carrier launched in 1943 that later picked Mercury and Gemini capsules out of the sea. It has been a museum on this berth since 1982.

The Hudson is barely a river along this stretch. It is a tidal arm of the sea: salt water reaches sixty miles upstream and the current turns twice a day as far as Troy, about 240 kilometres inland.
