Downtown Wilmington, NC Live Cam

The Riverwalk runs for two miles along the Cape Fear at Wilmington, on the coastal plain of North Carolina. The webcam looks over the boardwalk, the boats and the far bank.

The grey ship across the water is the battleship North Carolina, moored as a memorial since 1961 after a state-wide campaign in which schoolchildren raised part of the money in coins.

The port made the town: this is the only river in the state that reaches the ocean directly, and blockade runners used it through the civil war. The bridge downstream is a vertical lift, raised for shipping several times a day.
