New York City Panorama Live Cam

The Upper New York Bay separates this view at Red Hook in Brooklyn from the towers of Lower Manhattan. A pier and warehouse rooftops fill the foreground, and barges and tugs cross the open water in front of the skyline.

The bay is where the Hudson and the East River meet, and the state line runs through the middle of it, so the water in the frame is split between New York and New Jersey. The camera is at the Waterfront Museum, housed in a wooden lighter barge from 1914 tied up at the Red Hook pier.

Container ships pass on their way to the terminals in Newark Bay, and the Staten Island ferries cross in the middle distance. The sun sets behind New Jersey, straight down the line of the bay.
