Weather and time
This camera looks across the flagpole plaza in front of the Wuling Visitor Center, high in the mountains of Heping District, Taichung. Beyond the lawn run Wuling Road and a car park, with tall conifers and a forested ridge behind.
The center stands above 1,700 metres in the Wuling valley, known for Wuling Farm and Qijiawan Creek. The creek, a short walk south, is the protected home of the Formosan landlocked salmon, found only in Taiwan. The valley is also the usual starting point for hikes to Xueshan, the second-highest peak on the island.
Mounted on the visitor center itself, the camera keeps the triangular lawn, three flagpoles and a weathered tree trunk in the same place in every frame. The car park on the left shows how busy the valley is, while the ridge above reveals passing cloud.
